The scientists and engineers in our Octane Exo venture continue to push boundaries with active biocomposites engineered to integrate fully into skeletal implantation sites, particularly in spinal reconstruction. In 2022, we broke through with Octane Exo Spinal, a next-generation spinal implant designed to enhance bone regeneration for better implant integration while building strength and stability.
Octane Exo Spinal is built with Octane HyperPEEK, an extra strong advanced biocomposite that combines the interfacial remodeling ability of our proprietary Octane Skelite calcium phosphate bioceramic with the structural integrity of polyether ether ketone, a thermoplastic polymer. The result is an innovative spinal implant that promotes surface-to-core integration and intervertebral strength and stability with in-bone growth.
Exo is the result of our commitment to go way beyond current Innovations in orthopedic implants, which have focused largely on improving material strength, durability, and biocompatibility to minimize negative biological consequences. In contrast, our proprietary formulations are biologically active, enabling progressive replacement of the implant with natural bone to generate a stable and robust biological interface. The addition of molecular peptides further stimulate bone tissue growth with the goal of enhanced clinical outcomes
